Due to the current situation of lock-down and social distancing across the UK, our usual training workshops are not currently able to be performed at our offices, but the team at Jack Petchey Foundation didn’t want that to stop the learning and development of our current Achievers Network members.
The day was formed of a series of workshops and discussions on Zoom around topics such as Pushing Forward and Identity, with a wide variety of creative tasks, idea sharing and breakout workshops for the 23 Achievers Network members that took part.
At this time in the academic year and in the current situation, the topics discussed were around going outside of your comfort zone, setting goals, dealing with uncertainty and thinking forward. One of the most interesting discussions was around current uncertainties, what is and isn’t in our control, and how best to deal with these.
Overall the session was successful and was well received by the participants (pictured below holding up the flags they made for a warm up activity) with a wide range of activities and chance for reflections.
When it comes to future planning, don’t forget our resources that can help you plan at home, like Jack Petchey’s Skills Shortlist to help you focus on what skills you have and how best to utilise them (download here) and our Step Towards the Career You Want worksheet (download here).
Out Achievers Network programme is a year-long learning and development programme for around 30 young people aged 14-21 who are Achievement Award Winners, Speak Out Finalists and Step Into Dance Finalists.
To date, over 170 young people have graduated from the Achievers Network Programme, with 100% of participants telling us that the programme has increased their self-esteem and confidence.
Throughout the year, the cohort engage in multiple training days, one residential, assist the event work at the Jack Petchey Foundation, contribute to our campaigns, assist in interview processes and are central to our decision-making on future programmes.
