Changes to the Individual Grants for Volunteering Programme

Changes to the Individual Grants for Volunteering Programme

The Jack Petchey Foundation are excited to announce changes to the Individual Grants for Volunteering Programme, which will go live from the 1st of January 2025.

The Individual Grants for Volunteering (IGFV) is a programme which provides grants to young people aged 11 – 25 who are volunteering within the UK and abroad. The grant supports young people to increase their personal development, life experience and social skills, whilst undertaking valuable community-based volunteering projects.

Most excitingly, the maximum grant available is increasing to £500 per young person (it was previously £400). We believe this increase in grant size will better help young people address the rising costs associated with volunteering. Please note that grant values vary and are affected by the length of your volunteering project. Typically, grants awarded will vary between £150-£500.

We have also increased the application timeline to 12 months, meaning you can now apply for the grant up to a whole year before the start of your volunteering. We hope this will allow you more time to plan and prepare for your volunteering projects. This means you can apply between 2 months and 12 months before the start of your project

We have changed our approach to funding volunteering projects outside of the UK/Europe to help to reduce the environmental damage caused by long-haul overseas flights. This means that if you are volunteering for 13 days or less, we will only consider funding applications for UK/European-based volunteering projects.

Finally, we have decided to remove the need to provide a reference as part of your application. This should make the application process quicker and easier you.

We hope you are excited about these new changes. Please remember that they will go live from January 1st 2025, so all application received on and after this date will be affected by these changes.
