Frequently Asked Questions for Leader Award Grants

The Leader Award Grant programme allows organisations that are successfully running the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme to apply for a grant of up to £1000 to further enhance their work with young people.

Schools and organisations can invest the money in something special that they would not usually have the funds for. This might be specialist equipment for a sports team or a fun trip out for the whole class! Schools and organisations can use the grant in whatever way they know would benefit young people most.

You can apply through our Community. For more information on the application information required, visit our Coordinators’ Area.

When does the Leader Award Grant Fund open?

Every organisation operating the Achievement Award Scheme can apply for one Leader Award per calendar year. Organisations operating more than one scheme can apply for one Leader Award per scheme.

Every successful Leader Award winner is eligible to apply for a Leader Award Grant of up to £1000 within 6 months of your Leader Award application being made.

My project costs less than £1000, so can I add additional items to make up the £1000 that is available?

We want to fund as many applications as possible, therefore we are unlikely to fund items that appear to be additional or do not relate to the project.

My project comes to more than £5000, can I still apply?

Unfortunately we can only fund projects that cost less than £5000. However if there is an element of your project that is under £5000, you could apply for just this part.

Applications to the Leader Award Grant will be reviewed on a rolling basis by your Grants Officer. We aim to inform you of an outcome within 8 weeks of submitting the application.

If I am successful, when will I be paid?

Once the grant acceptance letter has been returned all payments will be made by BACS.
